One week ago, the crew at iFixit managed to get their hands on a Galaxy S6 edge, and promptly tore it down, ultimately expressing how difficult it might be for the general owner to repair the flagship smartphone in a pinch. Now, it’s the Galaxy S6’s turn. The teardown revealed much in the same way as the Galaxy S6 edge, insofar that the newest flagship has a very low repairability score....

Samsung has mentioned that the company’s Galaxy S5 flagship will be announced in India on the 27th of March, which is this Thursday. The smartphone has already gone up for pre-order in several regions, so this doesn’t come as a surprise. There’s no word on the pricing at the moment, but availability is expected to commence on the 11th of April. The Indian variant of the handset is expected to come with an Exynos 5422 octa-core chipset, which should be confirmed by the company this Thursday during its press event....

ET News details that Samsung’s Electronics and Display section are currently in the final stage of development of a foldable smartphone so that they can start producing prototypes by the third quarter of this year. The company intends on producing thousands of prototypes in Q3 of this year to verify their quality. Samsung will then be testing these prototypes for quality and performance issues and also send them to its major network customers in order to get their feedback on it....

Samsung has released a trio of new ads to promote the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. Samsung today announced a modified variant of the Galaxy Note 4 with LTE-Advanced Tri-Band Carrier Aggregation support. This is the first commercially available smartphone to feature Tri-Band Carrier Aggregation, which allows it to provide a maximum theoretical download speed of up to 300Mbps. The LTE-A Tri-Band CA certified Galaxy Note 4 will receive three different frequency bands and can combine them into one to offer a maximum download speed of up to 300Mbps....

Two phones a tablet First up, Sony announced its third-generation of Android-powered smartphones, including the Xperia Z3 Xperia Z3 Compact. The Xperia Z3 is merely a minor specification bump over its predecessor. It features a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 5.2 inch full HD display, a 20.7-megapixel camera with Sony’s Exmor RS for mobile sensor. It’s essentially the same camera sensor in the Xperia Z2, except only it’s supposed take improved low-light photography due in part to its incredibly high ISO sensitivity—up to ISO 12800....

Sony smartphones might not be doing particularly well but that is not stopping the company from unveiling a new flagship smartphone every six months. After the Xperia XZ2 from earlier this year, Sony has now unveiled the XZ3 at IFA 2018 in Berlin. The XZ3 is an iterative upgrade over the XZ2 at best. The primary difference is that it now features a 6-inch curved QHD+ 18:9 aspect ratio HDR display....

While we expected the Xperia XZ3 to feature Sony’s new IMX586 48MP sensor, Sony decided to put in a 19MP camera unit with “Motion Eye” technology owing to a sensitivity of ISO 12800. There are the Laser-assist autofocus and an LED flash, followed by the fingerprint scanner at the center of the back. The front facing camera is a 13MP shooter with an f/1.9 aperture. The Xperia XZ3 features Sony’s dynamic vibration system for audio output which generates sound from two speakers creating a surround sound effect....

Samsung Pay launched in September of last year in the United States, and now it’s rolling out support for another major banking establishment in the U.S..
