The Galaxy S9 is launching a month earlier than the Galaxy S8 from last year, and so it is also going to make its way the market earlier than usual. Samsung’s President DJ Koh has confirmed at CES 2018 that it would be unveiling the Galaxy S9, its first flagship smartphone of the year, at MWC next month. The president also confirmed that the release date of the handset will also be announced at the event. There were already rumors of Samsung unveiling the Galaxy S9 at MWC 2018 so the company’s head of mobile division has only confirmed these rumors here....

DxOMark Camera test gives us a fair idea about smartphone cameras. The DxO Mark team has put the Galaxy Z Flip camera to the test and it has scored 105 points. The tally includes 96 points for video performance and 109 points for the camera performance. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip ranks 27th on the leader board. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is definitely not a camera-centric device. The Galaxy Z Flip is known for its clamshell design with a foldable display....

Over the last couple of weeks, Samsung has posted a lot of videos teasing its upcoming flagship — the Galaxy S6. However, all the teaser videos were cryptic in nature and only hinted at some of the features that the handset will pack. With its latest teaser video though, Samsung is finally giving us a look at the Galaxy S6. The video claims that “metals will flow” and “borders will disappear” suggesting that the Galaxy S6 will come with a metal body with possibly very less bezel surrounding the display....

After launching Samsung Pay in China, Spain, Brazil, and Russia, Samsung has now expanded Samsung Pay to Thailand. The company had first announced its intention of bringing Samsung Pay to Thailand in October last year, with a limited-access trial run going on in the market since then. Samsung says that its strategy to launch Samsung Pa in Thailand is in line with the government’s move towards a shift to a cashless society....

Samsung has revealed that it has received 26 false reports of the Galaxy Note 7 catching fire from around the world. The reports surfaced after the company announced an official recall of the phone. Out of the 26 reported incidents, Samsung says that 12 incidents occurred that were not related to the faulty battery inside the Galaxy Note 7. Of the remaining 14 cases, seven Note 7 owners either withdrew their claim or said that they threw the phone away, while the remaining seven could not be contacted....

Recently, Samsung announced a pair of new flagships, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, that saw plenty of attention. Now, the tests are starting to trickle in. First up, a look at the display on the Galaxy S7 from Display Mate, which says that the newest smartphone from Samsung improves in every area that could be improved upon from the Galaxy S6, and even manages to earn the publication’s “Best Smartphone Display” award for all of its improvements....

The certification scheme encompassed two cybersecurity marks, one of which would enable small and midsize businesses (SMBs) to prioritise basic security measures they should implement to protect their systems and operations against common cyber attacks. These baseline measures included preventive measures to control access to systems and data, and cyber incident response. The Cyber Essentials mark not only recognised SMBs with good cyber hygiene, but also would help these companies understand fundamentals they should have in place even with their limited IT or cybersecurity resources, said Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency (CSA)....
