The December 2022 Patch Tuesday was the final one for Windows 10 21H1, which began rolling out to mainstream users in May 2021. Users on this version of Windows 10 will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates to address newly discovered Windows vulnerabilities, Microsoft warned in a blogpost. Windows 10 21H1 was a minor feature update that was intended to be easy to install for systems on Windows 10 2004 or 20H2....

It is no secret to anyone that I am a bit of an LG fangirl. After all, I like their Android UI skin, their buttons on the back design, and I have been using an LG G2 as my main smartphone since October. I take every opportunity to demo the phone’s camera and screen to everyone I meet, and I have been patiently waiting for the G3 to hit the markets so I can upgrade, skipping the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and Xperia Z2 in the meantime....

Not too long ago, a render of what looks like the Galaxy S7 edge in a gray shade found its way online, and now we get a look at a brighter shade of color. According to a pair of images published by Pisapapeles, we have a blurry look at what is believed to be a dummy unit of the upcoming gold-hued Galaxy S7 from Samsung. There’s no denying that the dummy unit does indeed look like the past leaks we’ve seen in the past, including showcasing what appears to be a very small bump for the rear camera....

Tim Gudgel may not be a household name, but he’s supposed to be one of the people behind the way Apple builds their stores. Gudgel is actually the second Apple Store employee Samsung has hired, earlier the Korean company successfully courted Michael Forrest and put him in charge of making “Galaxy Stores”....

Stock Android is said to be the greatest invention ever conceived by man. As someone who once owned a Nexus One and now owns a Galaxy Note II, I don’t agree with that sentiment, but whatever, mob mentality. Sony, looking to appeal to hackers and people who spend most of their time lurking on custom Android ROM forums, has just added the Xperia Z to the Android Open Source Project....

While the naming of the Xperia phones can be confusing, the design is ever so identical. The boxy hunk is aiming for more symmetry no matter where you look at it from. As good as this sounds, for a phone with a display size of 5.2-inch, the XZ has a rather big forehead and chin. We compared it to some 5.5-inch phones such as the OnePlus 3 and the Moto Z Play, and the XZ is really as tall as them....

Sony has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for select versions of the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact — its flagship phones in 2014. Based on Android 6.0.1, the Marshmallow update for the above handsets packs in goodies like a new and improved Camera app, an updated launcher app, and February Android security patch level. All the Marshmallow-y features like App Standby, Doze and improved system performance are also a part of the package....

All in all, SpaceX claims Starlink is available in 32 countries as shown in an updated map. People who’ve ordered the service from areas on a map marked as “available” will have their Starlink terminals shipped “immediately”, the company said in a tweet. The coverage map indicates Starlink is available in most of the US, the southern part of Canada, all of Mexico, most of Europe except Scandinavia, parts of South America, Australia’s most densely populated regions and New Zealand....

Of the total devices sold during the first three months of the year, 367,000 were sold via the retail channel. This represents a 45% reduction in retail sales in the year’s first quarter. According to IDC Brazil’s analyst Daniel Voltarelli, the decrease in retail sales of tablets in the country is mainly attributed to “economic issues that have been reducing the population’s purchasing power, such as high inflation and the rise in interest rates....

Since Samsung has done away with the home button on the Galaxy S8, it has used the power button on the device to offer the shortcut to quickly launch the camera app. This shortcut is also found on other Android devices so Samsung’s decision is in line with other companies. However, as many early Indian Galaxy S8 owners have discovered, the shortcut is not working on their devices and the option to enable it is also missing....

Two watch options, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, were announced during Samsung’s annual Unpacked event. Samsung today announced that it has partnered with Trusonic — the leader in Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) — to launch Trustonic for KNOX. Trustonic for KNOX already comes embedded on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, and will be made available to other handsets via a software update. Samsung’s KNOX was already known in the Android ecosystem for the safety and security it provided to enterprise users, but by partnering with Trustonic, Samsung is taking things to the next level....

To celebrate the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Samsung today unveiled the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition in Brazil. The company in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee will be giving 12,500 units of Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games edition and Gear IconX to all Olympians who will be taking part in the games this year. All the five colors from the Olympic Rings have been used as accents on the all-black phone, with the power button sporting a red color, volume buttons sporting green, earpiece and home button being done in yellow, and the camera ring having a blue accent....

We have always stressed how important it is to cross check the privacy settings of Facebook, but for a not-so-tech-savvy user, the process is cumbersome and time-consuming. Thankfully, some concerned folks at ReclaimPrivacy have come out with a bookmarklet that can scan a Facebook account to evaluate the privacy settings. The bookmarklet is a no-brainer and really easy to use. All that the Facebook users need to do is to drag the bookmarklet to their bookmarks and click on it to initiate the privacy scan....

Historically, STEM jobs have been stereotyped as masculine careers, discouraging women from pursuing these roles — or causing their parents and mentors to discourage them. Finances can be an issue, too. Women hold about two-thirds of the national student loan debt, according to the American Association of University Women. To fight back against these trends, some organizations have introduced women in STEM scholarships, including computer science and information technology scholarships....
